Police are hunting a hit-run driver after a man was found dead alongside a road in Victoria’s east this morning.

The man in his 60s, who is yet to be formally identified, was found by a passer-by on Waterloo Road in Trafalgar in the West Gippsland Region about 10.30am.

The exact cause of the man’s death is yet to be determined.

It is unknown if the death is believed to be suspicious.

Waterloo Road has been closed between Davey Drive and Telephone Road as police examine the scene.

Motorists are advised to take the Princes Freeway as an alternative.
