A 35-year-old man has been fined more than $1000 after he allegedly rode a Lime e-bike on the wrong side of Sydney’s Anzac Bridge.

Dashcam footage obtained by 9News shows cars slamming on the brakes as the cyclist rode towards them yesterday evening, weaving in and out of oncoming cars.

The rider could be seen riding a Lime bike west across the bridge.

“This is really irresponsible and dangerous behaviour,” Transport for NSW’s Bernard Carlon said.

“This bicycle rider has put his own life at risk, but not only that, he’s put the lives of the motorists at risk as well.”

Police confirmed this afternoon they had spoken with a 35-year-old, who is alleged to be the rider.

He was issued three traffic infringement notices for riding against traffic, not wearing a helmet, and riding negligently.

He was fined more than $1000 but not charged.

Transport for NSW have cautioned against the stunt.

“Already we’ve had five fatalities this year of bike riders, and more than 1800 bike riders admitted to hospital last year,” Carlon said.
