A man has been extradited to New South Wales from Victoria after an alleged kidnapping and sexual assault of a woman earlier this year.

The 36-year-old woman was allegedly forced into a Toyota Camry by a group of men she did not know in Epping, before the car drove off with her inside on Saturday, April 20 at 6.45pm.

Police found the woman at 1pm the following day at a different location, where she told officers she had been allegedly drugged and sexually assaulted.

The woman was taken to hospital for treatment.

On April 22, detectives executed a search warrant at a home in Eastwood where they found clothes belonging to the woman, drugs and bindings investigators believe were used during the alleged sexual assault.

The items were found discarded in a bin.

Following further inquiries and with assistance from Victoria Police, a 29-year-old man was arrested in Oakleigh East on June 6.

On June 7 the man was extradited to Sydney.

Police will allege the man kidnapped and drugged the woman and photographed her during the alleged sexual assault.

They further allege that he threatened to release the images unless she paid him $300,000.

He has been charged with taking/detain in company with intent to ransom occasioning actual bodily harm, knowingly directing the activities of a criminal group, aggravated sexual assault in company and deprive liberty, intentionally recording intimate images without consent, threatening to distribute intimate images without consent and use intoxicating substance to commit an indictable offence.

He was refused bail and will appear in Parramatta Local Court today.
