A man has died during an arrest on Queensland’s Fraser Coast region.

Emergency services were called to do a welfare check on Alice Street in Maryborough, where they found a man in his 30s acting erratically, about 11.50am yesterday.

Officers managed to restrain the man before he was medically sedated and taken to an ambulance.

The man suffered a medical episode and was declared dead a short time later.

The Ethical Standards Command is investigating the death in custody, overseen by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
