A man has died at a beach in Anglesea, Victoria, after he was pulled from the water unresponsive this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to Hut Gully Beach, off The Great Ocean Road, about 2.20pm on New Year’s Day.

The man appeared to be in difficulty prior to being pulled from the water, where he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police were told the man was seen experiencing difficulty in the water prior to the attempted rescue. (Nine)

Police will prepare a report for the Coroner to establish the cause of his death, which is not being treated as suspicious.
