A man has died after he was injured when two boats collided on Sydney Harbour this evening.

Police were called to New Beach Road at Darling Point about 6.30pm after it was reported that two yachts had collided.

When they arrived, they found a man believed to be in his 50s with a severe chest injury.

He died at the scene, and is yet to be identified.

Both of the yachts’ skippers will be tested for drugs and alcohol.

The two vessels have been seized for a mechanical examination, police said.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
