A man has died after he jumped off a bridge at a tourist hotspot near Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.

Police said the man took the plunge off Noosa Sound Bridge in Noosa about 1am today.

He failed to resurface, sparking fear among his friends.

Emergency services arrived and conducted a search and rescue mission to find the man.

About five hours later, his body was located in the waters.

Jumping off the bridge is a popular activity for tourists visiting the area, but it is a practice that has forced emergency services to issue several safety warnings.
