Police said a light truck was travelling east on the highway near Brassall about 12.45pm yesterday when the truck lost control and collided with the other vehicles.

The light truck’s driver, a 56-year-old man from Marsden, died at the scene.

The drivers of the cattle truck and the car were uninjured.

The road was closed after the crash and was reopened at 1am today.

Police said the cattle truck had been carrying cows at the time of the crash and a number of animals had to be euthanised.
