Police said the man had been scuba diving beneath the jetty when he suffered a medical episode.

Paramedics were called to the popular swimming location just after 1.30pm, and attempted to treat a 64-year-old man for at least 15 minutes.

Despite their efforts, he could not be revived.

A witness told 9News he became concerned when he hadn’t seen any air bubbles from the man’s scuba diving unit for about 10 minutes.

He then alerted another diver, who pulled him out of the water before calling emergency services.

There are not believed to be suspicious circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

A report will now be prepared for the coroner.
