A man who allegedly left another man fighting for his life after a coward punch has been denied bail in Adelaide.

Craig Sansbury-Weetra, 23, is accused of delivering the punch that knocked Jordan Dodd, 20, unconscious in the early hours of Sunday on Hindley Street.

Dodd remained on life support in hospital while his loved ones gathered at an emotional hearing today.

There was a heavy police presence as families of both sides filled the courtroom and came face to face for the first time.

Sansbury-Weetra put his head in his hands as he learned he would remain in prison until his next court date in November.

Dodd’s loved ones were pleased with the result.

“We are just beyond grateful that we got the outcome that we could only hope for at the moment,” girlfriend Dakota Leo said.

Family and friends continue to keep a vigil.

“He’s doing really well, they’re doing everything they can to try and make him Jordan again,” sister Jaymia Dodd said.

“I’ve been at his bedside telling him, ‘I’m here you’re gonna be alright, you’re a fighter’.”
