Anneliese Rodger, McLeod’s fiancee, told 9News yesterday he was left with collapsed lungs, a broken arm, broken ribs, broken neck, facial fractures and a brain bleed following the Tuesday evening crash.
The 25-year-old was rushed to Princess Alexandra Hospital with serious life-threatening injuries and remained in an induced coma tonight.
The couple are due to be married and have a four-year-old daughter together.
“She just wants to see her dad, and that’s the hardest part,” Rodger said.
“It’s really hard to believe someone would get back up and leave.”
Police appealed for help to track down the rider of the trail bike, who they said left the scene after the crash.
A 21-year-old man surrendered himself at Kingston police station this afternoon and was charged with a string of offences.
Dashcam footage captured the moments before and after the accident but police have appealed for other relevant footage or information to come forward.
The 21-year-old is due in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on April 1 on six charges including dangerous operation of a vehicle causing grievous bodily harm, failing to remain at an incident and render assistance, operation of a motor vehicle without a licence, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and use of an unregistered vehicle.
