A man has been charged with murder after allegedly killing a woman during a four-hour siege in Adelaide’s northeast.
The 51-year-old man accused of the attack turned himself into police just before 6pm (6.30pm AEST) after a “high-risk” operation, which began on Elm Street in Campbelltown about 1.20pm local time.
Police were called to the scene after people allegedly heard gunshots and reported seeing “two women collapsed on the driveway of a home”.
“When patrols arrived, they found a woman deceased at the scene and another 22-year-old woman with serious injuries,” South Australia Police said in a statement.
“The injured woman was safely extracted and rushed to the Royal Adelaide Hospital where she remains in stable condition.
“Patrols set up cordons around the home and surrounding streets while STAR Group officers responded to reports of an armed man who remained inside the home.

“After lengthy negotiations, the man was taken into custody without further incident.”
A 51-year-old man from Campbelltown has been charged with murder and attempted murder.
He did not apply for bail and will attend the Adelaide Magistrates Court tomorrow.
Police confirmed the man and women were known to each other.
Detectives are now searching the offender’s home where they expect to find a number of firearms.
