A man has been charged with murder after the body of a woman was found inside a home in Melbourne’s south-west earlier this month.

The 40-year-old woman, who was from Darley in regional Victoria, died at the house on Grevillia Crescent in Hoppers Crossing on August 3.

The Hoppers Crossing man was found “seriously injured” at the house and was taken to hospital under police guard, where he remains.

The street was shutdown shortly after the woman’s body was found. (Nine)

Police said a bedside remand hearing is expected this afternoon.

The 51-year-old man and woman were known to each other, police said.
