A man is set to face court charged with murdering a 70-year-old woman on the NSW Mid North coast.

Police found the woman’s body at a unit in South West Rocks, about 30km north of Kempsey, after they were called there at about 8am on Friday.

Officers arrested a 59-year-old man at the scene. 

They say he was known to the victim.

Detectives set up Strike Force Nundroo to investigate the woman’s death and have charged the man with murder.

He was refused bail and is due to appear before the Port Macquarie Bail Court on Saturday.
