A man has been charged with murder after another man was fatally injured in Melbourne’s north-east.

Police were called to reports of two men fighting on Alamein Road in Heidelberg West about 11.45am yesterday.

A 49-year-old Heidelberg West man was found with life-threatening injuries.

He was rushed to hospital, where he later died.

A 40-year-old Heidelberg West, who was arrested at the scene, has since been charged with murder and will appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.

It is believed the men were known to each other.
