A man has been charged in an ongoing investigation into a woman’s death after a fatal collision in Victoria’s north last night.

Police were told that two people had been involved in a fight on a street in the northern Victorian town of Yarranwonga about 8.30pm.

A 46-year-old woman attempted to intervene in the incident.

A man got into a nearby car a short time later, police said.

The car then allegedly collided with the woman who had tried to intervene as it left the scene.

Despite attempts to revive the woman, she died at the scene.

Police later found the car in Shepparton and arrested a man nearby in Tatura.

He was arrested and charged with breaching an intervention order, and threatening to kill.

He was granted bail and will appear in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on June 5.

Detectives will continue to investigate the death.

Anyone who witnessed the incident has been urged to come forward to police.
