Police had earlier found a 39-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his buttocks at a service station at the intersection of Pitt Street and Neil Street in Merrylands.

He survived the alleged shooting attack but is still injured from the incident.

At 7am today, detectives arrested 41-year-old man from a unit in Mascot over both the wounding and murder.

Police allege the man had a personal disagreement with both Chami and the 39-year-old, fueling the shooting.

The man was taken to Mascot Police Station where he was charged with murder, shooting with intent to murder, possessing a pistol and possessing a firearm.

The shooting was not linked to a gang hit, Detective Superintendent Danny Doherty said. (NSW Police Force)

The shooting was not linked to a gang hit, Detective Superintendent Danny Doherty said.

“This shooting was not driven by drugs or money,” Doherty said.

“This shooting was the direct result of a personal disagreement between two men which resulted in death and terror.

“That is why today’s results are so important for detectives.”

“It was a hard-fought investigation that has not only brought answers to Mohammad’s family but also to the wider Sydney community who was impacted by this violent attack.”

The man was refused bail and will appear in Downing Centre Local Court today.
