A man will front court after allegedly graffiting Nazi symbols and trying to assault a police officer in Sydney’s west.

The man allegedly drew swastikas on footpaths, fences and car spaces near a unit block on Derby Street in Penrith before police were called to the scene at 3pm yesterday.

The 51-year-old was arrested from inside the unit block and was taken to Penrith Police Station.

He was charged with knowingly displaying a Nazi symbol assaulting a police officer.

He was refused bail and will appear in Parramatta Local Court today.
