A man has been charged after allegedly dragging a woman from her car in an attempted carjacking in Melbourne.

Police believe the woman was approached by the man as she was sitting in a parked black Maserati SUV on Atherton Road in Oakleigh at 6pm on August 2.

He then allegedly dragged her from the car and assaulted her.

Witnesses saw the man in her car and attempted to stop him before he fled on foot, police said.

The woman was taken to hospital for treatment with non-life-threatening injuries.

A 40-year-old bystander sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

A 35-year-old man was arrested last week, and has been charged today with aggravated carjacking, criminal damage, common assault and two counts of intentionally cause injury.

He was remanded in custody and will face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on November 29.
