Police said officers were carrying out a patrol in East Row in the city around 3.45pm yesterday.

While the marked police car was driving around the city, a man allegedly threw a hamburger through the window and struck an officer with the fast food item.

The man ran away from the scene.

Police chased after him and a short time later he was arrested.

He was given bail and will face court later this month.
