A man has been arrested over a deadly stabbing inside a home in western Sydney early today.

Emergency services were called to a home in Layton Street, Wentworthville, about 6.30am, where they found a 64-year-old man stabbed in the neck.

Despite efforts by paramedics, he died at the scene.

A woman, aged 60, who was also at the property was not injured in the incident.

A 34-year-old man was arrested a short time later and taken to Granville Police Station.

All three people are believed to be known to each other.

Police set up a crime scene and launched an investigation.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
