A property in a rural NSW town has become a crime scene after a woman’s body was found and a man was arrested.

A 29-year-old man was arrested this morning after the woman’s body was found at a property on Henry Street in Gunnedah, in the state’s central north, at 8.20am today.

Police found the woman after they were called to the property after a concern for welfare report.

Shes believed to be aged in her 50s. 

The woman has not yet been formally identified, but police believe the man and woman are known to each other.

The 29-year-old has been taken to Gunnedah Police Station where he is assisting police.

Gunnedah has a population of just 8,338 people.

No charges have been laid yet.
