A South Australian man has been arrested following a three-hour stand-off with police during which he allegedly threw roof tiles at officers.

The 32-year-old allegedly ran through the backyards of homes in Blair Athol before jumping onto the roof of a house on Robert Street at 8.45pm yesterday.

The man threw roof tiles at officers and hit a patrol car, police allege.

The 32-year-old refused to come down from the roof and was jumping from house to house, according to police. They also claim that he was armed with a knife.

Special Task and Rescue officers, as well as negotiation officers, were called and he was eventually talked down just before midnight.

The man was arrested and was charged with being on someone’s property illegally, property damage, assault and unlawful possession.

He was refused bail and appeared in court today.
