Police were called to the home on Clements Street in Russell Lea after receiving reports of a “domestic incident”.
The woman believed to be aged in her 50s, was discovered by police.
A crime scene was established and detectives opened an investigation.
A 42-year-old man, known to the woman, was arrested at the scene.
He was taken to Burwood Police Station where he is assisting police with inquiries.
