A man has been arrested after a woman in her 30s was found dead at a home in Melbourne‘s west.
A major crime scene has been declared in a residential area in Melton South after the woman’s body was found at a house on Sutherland Avenue about 1.30pm.
Police have said the man they arrested is assisting with their inquiries.
A large number of police are in the area, with multiple roads blocked off.
Ambulance Victoria said paramedics attended the scene.
Witnesses have told 9News they heard a woman screaming and yelling prior to police arriving, and saw a man running down the street with blood-soaked clothing.
“I blood dripping off his hands – a lot of blood – on his legs,” a witness said.
“It dripped all over my driveway as well, all over my car.”
