A man has been arrested after allegedly threatening people with a machete in Sydney‘s inner west this morning.

Police were called to the intersection of Norton Street and Marion Street in Leichhardt about 10.35am to find a man who had run into a property.

Officers set up a perimeter around the house and diverted buses away from the area.

Police said the man was arrested about 12.30pm without incident.

He was taken to Newtown Police station, and is assisting police with inquiries.

Police said their investigation is continuing.
