It’s understood a fight between a group of men took place on a platform at the station about 3.30 this morning.
The man also sustained hand injuries and was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

There was a heavy police presence at the station this morning as officers searched for the weapon involved.
Flinders Street is the busiest train station in Melbourne and the second busiest in the country.
