A man has allegedly been shot and a woman hit on the head with a baseball bat in Sydney’s west.

Emergency services were called to Esme Avenue in Chester Hill after shots were fired about 4.40pm this afternoon.

9News understands four individuals arrived with guns, knives and a baseball bat before forcing their way into a family home and confronting the people inside.

It’s understood the man was shot in the chest and the woman was hit on the head with a baseball bat.

NSW Police confirmed they found a man suffering minor injuries after the alleged shooting.

“He was treated on scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics,” NSW Police said in a statement.

He and the woman were taken to hospital in a stable condition.

Officers have been speaking to the family of the victims outside of the home where the incident occurred.

They are yet to establish a motive for the shooting.

The group behind the shooting fled on foot.

“A crime scene has been established and investigations are continuing into the circumstances surrounding the incident,” police said.
