A man allegedly armed with an axe has been arrested after entering a school and forcing it into lockdown south-east of Brisbane.

Police were called to Loganholme State School in Logan before 2pm today.

Principal Sonya Wilson told parents in an urgent email not to approach the school, which was locked down due to the ongoing incident.

“Our students are safe, but we are in a lockdown with an intruder in the school,” she said in the email.

Police arrived at the school, arrested a 31-year-old man and seized the axe.

No one was injured. 9News understands the man did not approach any of the students.
