Innocent people have been targeted in a terrifying late-night machete ambush in Melbourne’s west.

CCTV footage shows one of the confrontations.

A 54-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman were seriously injured.

Another neighbour’s home was targeted, with machete marks seen in the front door.

When police were called it is alleged the young man barricaded himself inside his home across the road.

9News understands much of the incident was captured on a Snapchat video allegedly filmed by Aropp and posted to his private account

Aropp’s lawyer argued today he was vulnerable due to his age and possible withdrawing from alcohol.

He’ll remain behind bars overnight and will face Sunshine Magistrates Court tomorrow.

After the latest example of alleged knife crime in the area, locals admit they’re frightened.

“We don’t go out at night too late because of this whole kind of concept because it is scary, because you think, what if its you, it could happen to you,” Marlena said
