Police last Saturday evening spotted a red Holden VL Commodore doing extensive burnouts on Eddie Road in Minchinbury.

When officers told the 33-year-old driver to stop, he accelerated harshly, before losing control and crashing into a tree.

He was arrested and taken to a local police station where he took a breath test and returned a mid-range result of 0.084.

He was also found to be driving in a defective vehicle.

The man has been charged with dangerous driving and drink-driving.

Police also issued him a ticket for driving with a vehicle defect.
