Major update after two teenagers were stabbed in front of terrified shoppers at a busy Westfield

A 18-year-old man has been charged after two teenagers suffered stab wounds in a brawl at a busy Sydney Westfield.

Emergency services were called to the Mount Druitt shopping centre about 5.15pm on Tuesday with reports of an assault.

Shoppers told police a group of young men, believed to be known to each other, had begun brawling outside the centre. NSW Police confirmed two people were stabbed with a knife.

The young man was arrested at a nearby address on Wednesday and charged with affray.

NSW Ambulance paramedics and doctors from CareFlight treated one man on Tuesday night, aged in his 20s, for several stab wounds to his upper body.

He remains hospital in a critical condition.

A second man, believed to be aged in his late teens, was treated for a slash wound on his hand and face.

He also remains in hospital in a stable condition.

One 20-year-old man was treated for minor injuries at the scene and did not need further care.

‘Officers attached to Mount Druitt Police Area Command established a crime scene and have commenced an investigation in relation to the incident,’ a NSW Police spokeswoman told Daily Mail Australia.

Mount Druitt Police Area Command later established Strike Force Leeman to investigate the incident.

About 4pm on Wednesday 25 June 2025, strike force detectives arrested an 18-year-old man at a home on Rooty Hill Road, North Rooty Hill.

He was taken to Mount Druitt Police Station for further inquiries.

Witnesses reported seeing one man stabbing another in the chest before a third attempted to intervene, earning himself a stab to his hand.

Prior to the stabbing, locals said a larger group of teens had been fighting.

‘We (saw) it, two teens were getting chased and bashed by a group of guys with weapons, they had balaclavas on,’ one wrote on a online community group.

Others added the group had been chasing the boy ‘with a chair’.

They said the knife-wielding then attacker appeared and stabbed at one of the teens before running into a nearby Kmart store.
