A water pipeline has burst in Sydney’s south, smashing nearby homes with rushing water.

The pipeline in Como, near Engadine, burst at 2pm today flooding nearby homes in Binya Place and Inelgah Road.

The pipeline connects to Woronora Dam which supplies water to Sutherland, Cronulla, Engadine, Heathcote, Helensburgh and Stanwell Park.

Sydney Water has apologised for the rupture.

“Network technicians were on site assessing a leak on the main when it burst,” a spokesperson from Sydney Water said.

“Crews have isolated the main and repairs are underway.

“Customer advocates are on site working with impacted customers and assessing the damage.

“Sydney Water apologises for the inconvenience caused to our customers.”
