One of Australia’s largest internet providers was battling a major outage that left thousands of homes and businesses offline overnight.

TPG Telecom said a massive storm that hit Sydney yesterday caused a power failure at a datacentre, impacting broadband services for TPG, Vodafone, iiNet, Internode and Kogan fixed internet customers.

“We are currently experiencing a technical issue causing disruption to fixed services for our business customers, as well as access to contact our customer support teams,” the company said in a statement.

“Our technical teams have identified the issue and are working to restore services as quickly as possible for all customers.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused.”
