The safety of caged police trucks is in question after one crashed while heading to a job in Sydney’s East.
Two luxury cars were damaged in the collision but the officersescaped serious injury.
Two police officers were on their way to a call at Coogee, but never made it there.
CCTV footage shows the vehicle racing down Maroubra Road early this morning.
Their truck clipped two parked cars, skidded to the other side and then flipped over.
Residents rushed out to help before another police car arrived.
The cars that were clipped – a Mercedes Sedan and a new Land Rover which was only two weeks old, belong to local man Peter and wife Angela.
He said he heard the “bang” of the collision.
“As long as no one got hurt, that’s the main thing,” Peter said.

The impact caused the vehicle to flip onto its side, causing significant damage and briefly trapping the pair inside.
The driver, a male constable and the passenger, a female probationary constable, were cut from the vehicle.
They were both taken to hospital with minor injuries.
This is the second incident of its kind this year.
Another caged truck crashed at Prestons in May.
Caged trucks have long been criticised by some officers in the force for their safety and drivability.
Some senior officers say they have a tendency to rollover during high speed calls.
