Arvind Atri was on the phone when he opened the door of his Donnybrook home and stepped on a copperhead snake yesterday afternoon.
Snake Hunter Mark Pelley was called to the property, after the snake disappeared out of sight.
“I received a call about a snake which went underneath the concrete. I had to dig the snake out and it took a long time but eventually I got a hold of the copperhead snake,” he said.
The close call was caught on CCTV, with the snake catcher calling Atri a “lucky man”.
“Copperhead snakes are very dangerous, they can kill,” Pelley said.
“He is very lucky, I recommend he buy a lottery ticket.”

The snake was pressed up on Atri’s front door.
“I stepped and it felt like some sort of rubber and I saw it and it was like a metre long snake next to me,” he said.
“It was such a scary experience, I made sure the door was closed and ran.”
Atri said he couldn’t believe he wasn’t bitten from the snake.
“Thank god it didn’t bite me,” he said.
“It can be anywhere, just have a look when you are walking on pretty hot days.”
