Love Island Australia’s Erin Barnett has revealed she has undergone a full hysterectomy and can no longer have children after years of health struggles.
The reality TV star, who has gone on to become a successful influencer, revealed she was in hospital for the complicated procedure on Wednesday.
Erin revealed she was focused on dealing with ‘post operative pain’ and went on to say she was comfortable not having kids.
‘I’ve said it time and time again. Since I was 14/15 years old I’ve had issues with my reproductive organs,’ Erin wrote.
‘I grew up knowing I’d struggle to have children. As time went on and I had numerous surgeries I was told I would have to do IVF,’ she added.

Erin was told she would have complications when trying to create a family.
The reality star added she has suffered from polycystic ovary syndrome or POCS.
‘Four years ago, I looked into freezing my eggs, I was then told I am a high risk patient for IVF due to my POCS and how quickly I grow cysts and how fast they rupture and cause internal bleeding which turns into emergency surgery.’
She went on to say the cons outweighed the pros for her.

‘I came to accept the fact in this lifetime I won’t be a mother. It’s obvious that this is the path I was given and I don’t see the need to push for something that is clearly not meant for me,’ she added.
In a total hysterectomy, the cervix (the lower part of the uterus near the vagina) is also removed.
The operation takes around six to eight weeks for healing, but it is likely to take longer depending on the person.

Giving an update later, Erin wrote: ‘Feeling sore and I’m so afraid to use my bowels everything just feels weird and not right. It’s only been 24hrs since I had surgery so I know this is all normal. But it’s very uncomfortable.’
Erin confirmed she got her cervix removed saying while she was ‘nervous’ she was glad she underwent the procedure.

The star added the pain level was similar to other surgeries she’s experienced.
Later updating fans she wrote: ‘Feeling sore and I’m so afraid to use my bowels. Everything just feels weird and not right.’
She continued: ‘It’s only been 24 hours since I had the surgery so I know this is all normal. But it’s very uncomfortable.’

The former reality star said she wanted to have a hysterectomy to end her pain – but can’t find a surgeon who will agree to perform the operation.
‘It’s not a cure but I would probably be 90 per cent pain-free and today I’m living with about 1000 per cent pain every day,’ she told Nine Honey last year.
‘Sure, I would go into menopause and there are increased risks of having a stroke or heart attack in my 60s,’ she continued.

‘But that means I have to live in pain and have constant surgeries for another 30 years. I accept the risks and yet they still won’t do it’.

‘When I asked for large breast implants my surgeon advised against it, but it was what I wanted so I understood the risks and signed the form,’ she said.
Previously describing her symptoms on Instagram, Erin wrote: ‘Don’t know what’s going on! But look at how swollen I am. I’m in agony! I feel like my insides are on fire.’
A furious Erin continued: ‘When you’ve had 17 surgeries since you were 14, left fallopian tube/ovary removed, two cyst ruptures and diagnosed with endometriosis, adenomyosis and PCOS, then come back and tell me how to live my life.’
She added: ‘You have no idea what this amount of pain, suffering and surgeries will do to you mentally, let alone physically.’
