Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos took a moment to acknowledge those affected by Hurricane Helene in their on this morning’s Live with Kelly and Mark, all while taking a brief walk down memory lane.
After Consuelos gushed about the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, Ripa conceded that she’s “happy for Florida because they’ve had such a dreadful hurricane.”
“I’m happy that at least they had a win that way,” she added.
Consuelos noted that Hurricane Helene’s death toll was “near 100 people,” and that Asheville, North Carolina “lost 30 people.”
“And there’s still people missing,” he continued. “So guys, we’re hoping the best for everybody there in the South and the Southeast. Get better quick.”
While Ripa said she did not tune in to the game, she “couldn’t help but think about” how they would even play amid the hurricane.
“But you forget that Florida’s such an enormous state,” she explained. “Our son is in Florida. I kept texting him, ‘Are you safe? Are you OK?’ And he said, ‘Oh yeah, where we are… it’s a little windy.’ But that was it.”
Consuelos highlighted that “the coast really got hit hard,” before revealing that a past haunt of theirs fell victim to the hurricane.
“Woody’s Bar on the beach in St. Pete’s gone,” he shared.
“No!” Ripa replied.
Consuelos assured Ripa that “they’re going to rebuild it,” calling the bar “a staple.”
Ripa added, “I mean, we had some of our very finest and first dates there. Oh, that makes me sad.”
After Consuelos reiterated that “they are going to rebuild it,” Ripa joked that “it’s a sign.” Although she clarified that she was “kidding,” Consuelos asked, “Of what?”
Ripa teased amid laughter, “I’m just looking for trouble.”
