Iranian Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi has shared a message calling on the people of Iran to overthrow the Islamist regime ruled by Ali Khamenei.
Pahlavi, who has been living in exile in the US since 1979, claimed Khamenei has gone into hiding like a “frightened rat” in a video message shared online.
“Now is the time to rise,” he said. “The time to reclaim Iran.”
“Do not stand against the Iranian people for the sake of a regime whose fall has begun and is inevitable,” Pahlavi added.
Pahlavi would have likely become the Shah of Iran if not for the 1979 revolution.
The uprising resulted in the fall of the Pahlavi dynasty and established the Islamic republic.
