A family has been left “shattered” after a five-year-old girl died after choking on a snack after a swimming lesson.
Imogen Lennon from Canowindra in rural NSW started choking on her “favourite” treat, a frankfurter sausage, in the back seat of her mother’s car.
Her mother Sam Lennon called an ambulance before driving to the local hospital when it didn’t arrive.
But Imogen later died there in what family friends called an “unthinkable tragedy”, earlier this month.
“Despite Sam’s heroic efforts, ringing an ambulance, the help of a passerby and eventually driving Imogen to the hospital herself (the ambulance was too far away to make it in time) beautiful Imogen passed away later at the hospital,” family friend Tamara Harrison wrote on a fundraising page.
“To make sense of such a tragic loss in such a way is inconceivable, there are no words that could accurately describe how shattered Imogen’s family are.

“It is impossible to Imagine life without Imogen.”
Tributes called Imogen a ”bright, bubbly and beautiful” little girl.
Imogen’s funeral, which aims to be “a fitting celebration of her short life” is due to be held today.
Harrison, who gave 9News.com.au permission to share the family’s photos, said she wanted to raise awareness of what had happened for other families.
The fundraiser has so far raised over $26,000.
