Lionel Messi finally wins World Cup title as Argentina beats France in thriller

Lionel Messi finally has his World Cup.

Argentina defeated France to win the 2022 World Cup title on Sunday, winning in a penalty shootout to fill the only void in Messi’s legendary career.

Argentina led 2-0 at halftime but Kylian Mbappe scored twice in the second half to send it to extra time. Messi put Argentina ahead 3-2 in extra time before Mbappe completed a hat trick to tie it once again.

It is Argentina’s first World Cup title since 1986. France won the last World Cup in 2018.
