Emergency services (pictured) were called to George Bass Dr in Lilli Pilli following the discovery of a man's body in bushland

The body of a man has been discovered in bushland by a member of the public. 

Emergency services were called to George Bass Dr in Lilli Pilli, 10km southeast of Batemans Bay on New South Wales’ South Coast, about 10.30am on Wednesday.

The body was reportedly found amongst bushes.

NSW Police established a crime scene with officers investigating the circumstances surrounding the man’s death. 

It’s understood officers are considering whether the body was burnt before it was dumped in the bushland.

Police will also search for links between the body and any missing persons.

The news comes just one day after a mother drowned at Pebbly Beach, 29km northeast of Batemans Bay, after trying to save her daughter.
