Lilie James has been celebrated as an “independent and vibrant” young woman as hundreds gathered to honour her life.
The 21-year-old loved coaching and playing water polo, dancing and making time for her family and friends.
“She was an independent, vibrant young woman who was always on the go and lived each day to the fullest,” her father Jamie said.
Her father said even with James’ busy schedule, she always made time for her family and friends.
“Lilie James we are so proud of you and thank you for sharing a wonderful and jam-packed 21 and a half years together,” Jamie said.
The family thanked the community for the thoughts, prayers, generosity and messages during the difficult time since losing a daughter, sister and friend.
“From the bottom of our hearts we thank you for the many great memories we all share of Lilie,” he said.

The memorial for James was hosted at her old school, Danebank Anglican School for Girls in the city’s south, and was livestreamed into St Andrew’s Cathedral School.
Dozens of friends, family, students and staff flooded into Danebank Anglican School and St Andrew’s Cathedral School to pay their respects.
NSW Premier Chris Minns was among those paying tribute to the murdered water polo coach.
Many of the mourners wore brightly coloured dresses for James instead of black.
St Andrew’s Cathedral School will remain closed today as a mark of respect to James and her family.
A body believed to be that of school colleague, 24-year-old Paul Thijssen, was pulled from the waters off Vaucluse after her death.
Police continue to investigate James’ death but no one else is being sought.
