Emergency services have responded to reports of a light plane crash in southern Queensland.

A Queensland Police spokesperson said police were called to an aviation incident at Palgrave in the Southern Downs region at 12.15pm (1.15pm AEST).

At this stage it is unknown how many people are involved.

The crash resulted in a grassfire at a nearby property which was put out by the landowner.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) responded to the scene.
