Two people have died when their car crashed into a tree and burst into flames on Sydney’s Northern Beaches overnight.
The black Toyota Corolla hit a tree and caught fire along Burnt Bridge Creek Deviation at Balgowlah about 10.45pm yesterday.
Emergency services were called and firefighters extinguished the blaze.
Car enthusiasts Mathew Wong, 23, and Kasia Kulary, 26, died in the crash.
The pair had earlier last night been at a car meet-up in Mosman with the Car Culture Australia group, which they had both been a part of for several years.
Kulary’s family said: “Kasia was, and still is, the light of all of our lives. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.”
A crime scene has been established and specialist officers are investigating to determine whether speed was a factor.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
Anyone with information or dashcam footage should contact Manly Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
