LED traffic sign in India tells drivers to ‘smoke weed everyday’

This highway message had a blunt message for drivers.

An LED sign flashing along a roadway in India seemed to encourage motorists to puff recreational drugs with a message of “smoke weed everyday,” according to reports.

The shocking message was seen flashing in Mumbai instead of typical traffic instructions near a construction area, according to United Press International, citing a tweet posted Tuesday of an undated video.

Apparently there was a technical glitch that caused the wrong message to show.

Officials blamed the directive on a technical issue, the outlet reported, citing India Today.

The joint commissioner for traffic with the Mumbai police, Pravin Padwal, told India Today Tuesday the company in charge of the sign explained to him that because of “some technical glitch last night, a wrong message was flashing on the display.”

A worker with the company, L&T, contacted IT to address the problem and the sign was shut off until it was fixed, Padwal said, according to India Today.
