LeBron James needs just two words to hype up Bronny’s thunderous Lakers Summer League dunk

LeBron James may be one of the best players in basketball, but he’s also a supportive dad and hyped his son, and Lakers teammate, Bronny James, up after he put down an impressive dunk during NBA Summer League play.

In a post on his Instagram story, LeBron posted a collage of still images of Bronny throwing down the ball during his 2025 summer league debut on Sunday.

“BRONNY SHOWTIME,” Lebron wrote along with a popcorn bucket emoji.

The slam dunk happened in the first quarter off a steal as Bronny took the ball the other way and flew through the air before slamming the ball through the hoop with one hand.

The play occurred within the first 30 seconds of Sunday’s game against the Miami Heat, which ended in a 103-83 win for the Lakers in the California Classic league.

A minute and a half later, Bronny knocked down his first of two 3-pointers in the game.

Bronny played a total of 11 minutes in the game and recorded 10 points on 3-of-7 shooting.

Bronny is entering his second season in the NBA after a heavily scrutinized rookie campaign, in which he played 27 games for the Lakers and averaged 2.3 points in 6.7 minutes.

He played significantly better in the G-League, averaging 21.9 points, 5.5 assists and 5.1 rebounds while shooting 44 percent from the field in 11 games.

Bronny faced scrutiny over the fact that the Lakers drafted him in the second round and the perception that it was due to the fact that he is LeBron’s son. The two became the first father-son duo ever to play in an NBA game.

The younger James told the Los Angeles Times recently that he expected his second season to be less chaotic.

“Last year it was a crazy environment for me to step in and produce right off the rip, like being nervous too,” Bronny said. “So, I feel like this year, I’ll be able to go out and play freely and know what I’m gonna go out and do for me and my teammates. So, yeah, I’m just really excited to be able to play nervous-free.”
