A 44-year-old learner driver has been fined after a road rage incident on the Gold Coast in which he rammed a Tesla and swerved between lanes on the M1.

Dashcam footage showed the driver following the Tesla in a life-endangering game of cat and mouse after the Tesla appeared to brake-check him and drive slowly in the right-hand lane.

No one was harmed in the incident.

Takitai Aperau faced Southport Magistrates Court on a number of charges today.

He was fined $2000 and cannot hold a licence for eight months but escaped a conviction.
