Andrew Seton set off for a day trip in the backcountry of the Kosciuszko National Park on Saturday morning and last made contact with family that morning.
The 23-year-old is described as an experienced skier and was well-equipped to make the trip but hasn’t been seen or heard from in two days.
When he failed to return officers from Monaro Police District commenced inquiries, ad found his car at Guthega carpark later that day.
A coordinated search involving specialist police from the Alpine Operations Unit, State Emergency Service (SES), and National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS), is now underway.
It’s believed Seton has a personal locator beacon, limited day supplies and other equipment needed for backcountry conditions.
NSW Police are due to give an update later today.
