A ferocious blaze is engulfing a factory in Sydney’s south-west.

The fire on Fitzpatrick Street in Revesby is sending large plumes of black smoke into the sky.

Fire and Rescue NSW first received reports of the fire at 2.10pm.

Crews on the scene believe the site is a wrecking yard.

Firefighters said from the scene their challenge was “not only knocking the fire down but stopping the spread”.

There are 20 crews on the scene to battle the 6th alarm fire.
